Good Morning! I just had to share this amazing Lemon Coconut Cake.
I made this for our Birthday Bash at church a few weekends ago. It was so good I keep thinking I need to make another one. Such a sweet bright fresh taste to it.
I just used a vanilla (white) cake mix and in stead of oil I used apple sauce...I do that for all my cakes..and in stead of the water I used fresh squeezed lemon juice and grated some lemon rind in it also. I guess you could use a lemon cake mix but I didn't want the fake lemon flavor playing with the real lemon. Trust me...you don't need a lemon cake mix for this...it was so lemony and delicious! I added a little food color paste to make it yellow. I made it as a bundt cake and for the icing I used more lemon juice, lemon rind and powdered sugar...OMG...the icing was so good I finished what was in the bowl. I could put that icing on anything and eat it..yum! :) I then added sweetened coconut over the cake to make it prettier...:)
It was so tasty...I think I will make one for Easter...I will have to leave the coconut off because my kids and grandkids won't touch it if it has coconut. Crazy kids...;)
Yummy.......enjoy!

Millie Angel
Thought I would share this Angel I made...Her name is Millie. When I was working on her for some reason my grandmother popped into my head. So I named her Millie after her.
She has a very Victorian dress. I decoupaged the paper on and then made the wings out of card stock. I stamped and embossed her wings and added some flowers and butterflies. I gave her a little skirt made from a piece of old lace and a ribbon to hold it on. I love how she came out...:)
My grandmother died a long time ago...but I remember a lot about her.
I'm not saying my grandmother was an angel...lol some think she was quite the opposite. But being the middle child I was her favorite so she was always good to me. ;)
Millie is just awesome....she stands about 14" tall in her Victorian splendor and her wings are just about as wide. :)

Ribbon flowers
I really love how these flowers turned out. They are very easy to do. And I made them into pins. Would be lovely for a little Easter gift to mom, daughter, sister? :)
I see people have looked at my blogs but no one comments.
Let's try something.
If you want to see how these gorgeous flowers are made. Let's see a few comments and I will post the directions.
It's worth a shot...:)

My Sailor's Valentine
Ok....as promised here is the Sailor's Valentine I made for my husband at least 10 years ago. It hangs in our bedroom. I didn't use as many shells as the old ones but I didn't have that many. I do now....maybe I will work on another one. ;)
It was a lot of fun to make...I love the heart shell in the middle and all the tiny sand dollars around the edge...they look like lace. :)
Enjoy...Smile...~Dawn

A special Valentine...
My husband gave me a Valentine's Day gift a few years ago that I have kept just the way he gave it to me. I was on a diet that year...like every other year...so I didn't want chocolates. I know...hard to believe. So he gave me the box and after glaring at him and thinking he was trying to sabotage me again...I opened it and this is what I found. :) ~Dawn
Is this not the sweetest thing...:)
Sorry for the blurry first pic of the box. :/
I just love all the little flowers and the seashell beads. So cute. :)
